CEO Corner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH

CEO Corner July 2021

7/23/2021

Last month we held our annual National Conference for Big Brothers Big Sisters: Bigger Together 2021. Staff, board members, and volunteers from over 200 affiliates across the country came together virtually to share best practices in child-safety; trade tips on mentoring programing; and celebrate the dedication of more than 3,500 staff and volunteers.

The conference keynote address from National CEO, Artis Stevens, spoke of a BOLD Path to a BIG Future with our goal to be the preeminent JEDI-focused youth empowerment organization -- born out of JUSTICE; to create EQUITY for youth; bringing together DIVERSE communities; so that all kids can feel INCLUDED for the promise of opportunity and a better life. Big Brothers Big Sisters is and has always been focused on inspiring youth equity and empowerment to help kids reach their full potential. Our ongoing commitment to being a JEDI-focused youth empowerment organization is a top priority. Be bold and join us!

“When our young people face trials or trauma, we show up...big and bold.”
– Artis Stevens

One of the best ways for you to join us in this work is to spread the word. And what better way to inspire a conversation than with some BBBSNH gear! We’ve partnered with CLOZTALK to provide an on-line store for BBBSNH apparel. You can make a purchase here.

I know that everywhere I go wearing my BBBSNH tee-shirt – in line at the grocery store or for a walk in the park – I meet people who remember being a Big or a Little, or who have a Little in our program. These encounters spark great memories and conversations that reaffirm the importance of our mission to create and support 1-to-1 mentoring relationships that ignite the power and potential of youth. And you never know, it might inspire someone else to become a Big, enroll their child, or make a donation to support our work. Now, that’s impact!

Speaking of impact, at the national conference we also celebrated our Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year. Did you know that each year our BBBSNH community nominates a Big Brother and a Big Sister for our National Bigs of the Year Award? This fall we will ask our families, donors, supporters, and team members to make their nominations. And here in the Granite State, our Bigs of Year are Jodi and Paul. We know you will be inspired by their amazing dedication and the power of their mentoring friendship as we’re inspired every day by the many Bigs who make a continued impact on our youth. Thank you!

Be bold,

Stacy W. Kramer, CEO
