CEO Corner December 2023

12/15/2023

The connections we create and support everyday here at BBBSNH fills us with gratitude. Gratitude for you – our village. The gratitude we have for our community is key to feeling hopeful and optimistic about the future.

This year we are on target to make over 100 NEW matches plus we continue to support the many, many matches we have created over the years. We have mentoring matches celebrating 5, 7 and even 10+ years together!

For Little Brother Matt, having his Big Brother Pete in his life was a game changer. He may not have been too sure at the beginning as Pete was in his 50s, and not in his 20s, but they soon connected over hockey, tennis and much more. In Matt’s words “it ended up being the greatest thing (even the 40 year age gap!).” A mentoring relationship that spanned decades doing just the simple things together.

When Pete passed away, Matt recalled spending time with his wife and daughters and how they had found things around the house that Matt had made for Pete over the years. It was in that moment that Matt realized: “I knew how much he cared about me.”

We are grateful for our mentors donating over 23,000 hours of their time this year to shape the lives of NH youth.

Speaking of our mentors, we are in the middle of our Thankful Giving Campaign, which honors the mentors in all of our lives. Thanks to everyone that has supported mentoring! To keep our services free to all, this campaign funds our mission of creating and supporting matches through ongoing coaching, training and guidance for the duration of the match. Your support aids in our ongoing child protection protocols that include training and layered background checks to ensure youth served in our programs are safe and have the necessary resources they need to succeed.

Break the tie! Our finalists for BBBSNH's 2024 Bigs of the Year are here. Vote now! Voting ends January 5th. Vote here!

From our dedicated board of directors and team – we wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!

With gratitude,
Stacy
