perks of being a big brother or big sister

Cool Perks for Bigs

1/15/2020

It doesn't cost anything to be a mentor. In fact, we encourage no-cost or low-cost match activities like visiting a park, hiking, and enjoying New Hampshire's beautiful scenery. Thanks to our wonderful donors and sponsors, we are able to provide special opportunities exclusively for our Bigs. Recent excursions include Journey to the North Pole (donated by Crawford Software in coordination with the Believe in Books Foundation), tickets to Annie at The Music Hall, vouchers to the UMASS Lowell Riverhawks vs. the Boston University Terriers game, and so much more! In addition to the many cool activities, parties and outings offered free of charge, we provide training to our Bigs and families. Here are just a few of the benefits our Bigs enjoy:

Free Training

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is offering BBBS Affiliates across the nation training opportunities for Bigs, Parents AND Littles! Here are a few great trainings, webinars and tidbits we're hoping you find useful!

Understanding the Opioid Epidemic

Mentoring Youth Impacted by Opioids (MYIO) is an initiative through the Office of Juvenile Justice in which BBBSNH is taking part of as an affiliate of BBBS of America.  With this funding opportunity, we are offered training and support for all mentors of matched youth.  Please email mgoerbig@bbbsnh.org if you're interested in taking a 1 hour self-paced webinar designed to introduce Bigs to the topic of Opioid use and the impact we're seeing on a large scale (especially in NH) with youth that we are serving. We invite you to learn with us and provide youth with a positive trajectory out of this crisis.

Diversity and Inclusion: Little Challenges, Big Solutions

Diversity and celebrating differences is a common theme at Big Brother Big Sisters. In this episode of "Little Challenges, Big Solutions," Hayley and Kristie meet with Dionne King and Tahir Atwater to discuss diversity, inclusion, equity, and how to have tough conversations with your Little. Hear the podcast episode here from Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City: Diversity and Inclusion
